After Sunday’s social media uproar over the humiliating treatment of one its employees, Tekkie Town implemented an immediate investigation.
It was alleged, that a Tekkie Town supervisor tied an employees hands behind her back, insulted her, and forced her to stand in a display window with a humiliating sign pinned to her shirt.
In a statement released on Monday morning, the company confirmed that it has completed its investigation and decided to suspend the supervisor.
The company further confirmed that it will investigate further, implement formal disciplinary procedures and also offered support and counselling to the affected staff member.
The company also clarified that it condemns any behaviour that undermines the dignity of their employees and customers, and will not tolerate such behaviour.
The alleged incident, which took place at Bay West Mall in Port Elizabeth, was posted on Facebook on Sunday and at the time of writing, it was shared 854 times.
