Rohan Wins First Place in the 2016 Mathematics in Action Competition

Congratulations to Rohan Cloete for winning first place in the 2016 Mathematics in Action competition for Grade 6 and 7 learners. The competition was held at Stellenbosch University and there were 160 schools from across the country participating. Rohan was one of 6 learners at his school, Forest Village Leadership Academy, that participated in the competition.

The competition aims to identify those grade 6 and 7 learners who have an exceptional aptitude for
Mathematics. The top 30 learners from each province is invited to participate in the competition and the top performers are invited to attend the Young Einstein Fun Day.

Rohan is also a top achiever at his school, having recently walked away with numerous trophies and certificates. Despite his achievements, his teachers describes Rohan as humble and down to earth.

A special congratulations should also be extended to Forest Village’s Herman Poole, the Forest Village deputy principal and Grade 7 maths educator. His learners also managed to take home the second and third positions, which was won by Amaarah Abrahams and Phiwe Xayiya, respectively.
